Learning a Second/Third Language at Home and School



Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. 
Now I want to explain about learning the second/third language at home and at school.
The second/third language is the language that is not the native language (first language or L1) of the speaker, but is learned later (usually as a foreign language, but it can be another language used in the speaker's home country). 

Benefit of learning a second/third language 

a. Benefit of Children
  • Begining to learn a new langauge at an early age is much easier than trying to learn later because the language center of is still developing.
  • Learning a new language help stimulate a child's coriosity and makes him or her more receptive to learning in others areas.
  • It has been found that learning a second language help boost children cognitive development, which help their overall academic progress. 
  • Children who learn a second language tend to display more empathy toward other and are more receptive to other cultures and experiences.
  • Gifted chilfren benefit from learning a new language because it parents them with the challenge they may be lacking in their education. 
b. Benefit for Adults
  • Learning a new language has been shown to slow the aging process in the brain-menaing, adults can stay mentally sharp for longer.
  • Adults have multiple options for learning a new language, from online courses to study groups.
  • It can be easier for adults to learn a new language because they have the attention spand and organization needed to study more effectively than children 
  • Cultural nuances are easier for adults to pick up  on because they have greater emotional maturity than children
  • Adults have more extensive vocabularies, allowing them to make better connections between different words and idioms in another language and and their native tongues.
c. Benefits for Senior
  • Senior whos learn a new language help improve their cognitive abilities and slow the aging process in their brains.
  • Learning a new language allows seniors to break out of their routinies and keep life interesting.
  • Learning a second language can help seniors who travel abroad gt more out of their experiences
  • The process of learning a second language can help fend off the effects of dementia because it exercises certain critical areas of the brain.
