Hi guys...

How are you...I hope you fine always. Today I want to share about People and Place especially about Bena Village.
Place
Bena Village is a megalithic village located in Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Precisely in the village of Tiwuriwu, Aimere District, about 19 km south of Bajawa. The village is located on a hilltop with a mountain view of Inerie. Its existence under the mountain is characteristic of the old community of mountain worshipers as a place of the gods. According to the inhabitants of this village, they believe in the existence of Yeta, the god who resides on this mountain that protects their village.

This village currently consists of around 40 houses that surround each other. The village body grows lengthwise, from north to south. The entrance to the village is only from the north. While the other at the south is already a peak as well as a steep cliff edge.
This village has been included in the tourist destination of the Ngada Regency. It turned out that this village became a regular subscription tourist from Germany and Italy.
In the middle of the village or field, there are several buildings which they call Bhaga and Ngadhu. Bhaga building looks like a small cottage (without occupants). While Ngadhu is in the form of a single-columned building and roofed with fibrous fibers to look like a shelter. Ordinary wooden masts are made of special and hardwood as they also function as sacrificial animal hangers at traditional parties.
People
Bena residents belong to the Bajawa tribe. The majority of Bena residents are followers of the Catholic religion. Generally, Bena residents, men, and women earn a living as cultivators. For women, it is still added to weaving.

At first, there was only one clan in this village, the Bena clan. Marriage to other tribes gave birth to new clans that now formed the entire population of the Bena village. This can happen because the people of Bena adhere to the matriarchal kinship system.
This village has not been touched by technological progress. The architecture of the building is still very simple which only has one gate to enter and exit, according to the Ngada Regency Government, Bena Village is estimated to have existed since 1,200 years ago. Until now the pattern of life and culture of the people has not changed much. Where the people still uphold the customs inherited from their ancestors.
Bena's architectural building is not only a dwelling but has a function and profound meaning that contains local wisdom and is still relevant to be applied by society today in managing the environment that is environmentally friendly.
The value that can be known that the Bena people do not exploit their environment is residential land that is left according to the original contour of hilly land. The shape of the Bena village resembles a boat because according to the megalithic belief the boat is considered to have a connection with the vehicle for the spirits that are heading to their place of residence. But the value reflected in this boat is the nature of cooperation, mutual cooperation and hints at the hard work that was exemplified by their ancestors in conquering nature across the seas until they arrived at Bena.
Oke guys...I think thats all my story about People and Place in Bena Village. I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.....
